A referral is created when a referrer refers a candidate to a job on Hirechain. All referrals are reviewed by Hirechain to ensure they meet the company's hiring criteria which our visible to all on the job listing.
If your candidate is rejected and you think we made a mistake, please feel free to push back by commenting on the referral.
How do I create a referral?
You can refer a candidate by selecting a job on Hirechain, clicking 'Refer a Candidate' and filling in the form on behalf of the candidate. You can also share your 'Shareable Referral Link' directly with candidates or your community to collect applications.
What are shareable referral links?
Shareable referral links allow you to invite a particular candidate to apply to a job. When they apply via the form on your link, a referral is created in your 'Inbox'. From here you can choose to either accept or reject the referral. If you accept it, the referral will move to Hirechain for review.
If you want to post your referral link publicly it should only be in targeted communities or groups. Posting links on social media or other open forums is discouraged and will soon be disabled.
How much can I earn?
Every job posting on Hirechain will display a bounty. The bounty is the amount the hiring company is willing to reward referrers with for referring suitable candidates.
Once the hiring company has hired a candidate found via Hirechain the bounty is split between referrers.
Approximately 75% of the bounty is paid to the referrer who sent the selected candidate.
The remaining 25% is split between the referrers whose candidates attend an interview (capped at $500 / candidate).
Bounty Example
Let's explore an example. Hirechain is looking for a Sr. Front-End Engineer and has offered a $15k bounty. 10 candidates were interviewed for the role and 1 was hired.
$11,250 is paid to the referrer who referred the hired candidate.
$3,750 is split between the 10 referrer's whose candidates were interviewed, meaning they each receive $375. If you refer multiple candidates who get interviewed, you receive multiple shares.
Please note that bounties are only paid out to referrers if a placement is made by Hirechain. If the company hires outside of Hirechain then there is no money to pay out to referrers. You can learn more about Payments here →
Tracking Referrals
Once you have submitted a referral it will show in your dashboard where you can track the progress. We will do our best to update you as the candidate progresses through interview stages. The client will talk to and arrange interviews with the candidate directly. Do not post candidate information in any public channels.
If you try to refer a candidate that has already been referred to the job you will receive a 'Duplicate referral' message on the referral form or shareable referral form.
If the candidate tells you that they have not spoken to anyone about this position then please ask them to search their email and Linkedin messages before contacting us.
If someone refers a candidate without speaking to them first and getting their consent to be sent to the job then the candidate can notify us that they would like you to represent them at admin@hirechain.io. Please note that we take this very seriously and will contact the other referrer to give us some evidence that they did speak to the candidate about the company. If they are able to provide this then their referral will still be valid.
