Referrals work in recruitment because of reputation. Every time you create a referral, you put your name and reputation on the line. Here's how we've built that into Hirechain.
When you refer a candidate to a job on Hirechain it costs you 1 credit. This means if you start with 5 referral credits, you can make 5 referrals before you run out. However, you also earn credits back depending on how good your referrals are.
How do I get more referral credits?
The best way to get more credits is to make great referrals. When you create or accept a referral, it is sent to Hirechain for review. When our team reviews it, they will update its status to one of the following which in turn will increase or decrease your credit balance.
Status
Outcome
Client Review
+2 - You get your credit back plus an additional as the candidate was forwarded to the client.
Hirechain Shortlisted
+1 - You get your credit back. Hirechain has shortlisted the candidate pending client feedback on existing pipeline.
Hirechain Pass
+1 - You get your credit back. Hirechain has decided to pass on the referral and it will not be progressing. This could be because stronger candidates are coming through.
Hirechain Rejected
-1 - You lose one credit. The candidate was not quite suitable but was not close enough that we do not consider them to be completely unsuitable.
Unsuitable Candidate
-5 - You lose 5 credits. The candidate was referred with incomplete information or clearly does not meet the hiring criteria.
Withdrawn (No Consent Given)
-5 - You lose 5 credits. If the candidate reports to us that you referred them without their permission you will lose 5 credits and potentially access to Hirechain.
If you consistently make great referrals, you should never run out of credits. You may run out if you are waiting for us to review a new referral, but please bear in mind that our team always processes these as quickly as they can.
What happens if I run out of credits?
Your credit balance will reset every 7 days
There is currently no way for us to manually increase your credit balance, but it will reset every 7 days to the balance associated with your tier, which is detailed below.
Tiers
What are tiers?
While Hirechain supports both casual referrers and recruiters, we needed a way to reduce the impact of bad referrers while increasing the impact of good referrers. To accomplish that we have introduced the three following tiers which will be assigned based on your performance and reputation.
Tier
Description
Credit Balance
Restricted
This tier is applied to referrers who are inactive or perform poorly on the platform. You can still view your old referrals but cannot make new ones.
0
Referrer
This tier applies to the majority of users who make referrals every now and then or are new to Hirechain.
5
Recruiter
This tier applies to the top performing referrers on Hirechain and comes with benefits such as: access to higher bounties, office hours with our team and specialist features.
Recruiters are expected to be more hands on and help Hirechain manage the interview process.
20
Which tier am I on?
All new users on Hirechain default to the Referrer tier and therefore have 5 referral credits per week.
Those who perform particularly poorly and repeatedly refer unsuitable candidates will be downgraded to 'Restricted'.
Those who perform particularly well and consistently rank in the top 10% of users, will be considered for the Recruiter tier.
Request access to Recruiter tier
If you are a referrer on Hirechain and:
Consistently rank in the top 10% of referrers
Have experience sourcing and recruiting candidates
Are willing to be more hands-on and help Hirechain manage the interview process
Recruiters are expected to manage the full interview process including:
Getting feedback after each interview
Making us aware of any concerns or blockers
Helping to keep us informed of the interview process as it moves forward
If this sounds like you then you can request access to the Recruiter tier below. Unfortunately, due to the number of inbound messages we receive, we cannot get back to everyone yet, but if you are successful we will be in touch.
